Open the sports page of any Indian news paper and if there is a tennis tournament going on anywhere, the first news you see is " Sania sails past so and so and enters the next round". Watch the same space a day or two later the there is news again. This time it says "Sania bows out of so and so tournament" or "Sania out in so and so round". The irony seems funny alright, but it might not augur well for our tennis star. Lots of international coaches have commented on her. They say she has a very strong fore hand and has quite a number of weak points, but everyone has one common opinion. Thats the fact that Sania doesn't have the fitness level to get into the top 10. This is undeniably true. She is slightly hefty and doesnt have a slender body, gets tired very easily, these are areas she need to work on.
On a serious note, Sania needs to work extremely hard on her fitness. She has to work on improving her stamina and on becoming sleek and more fitter and increase the power in her shots. Look at players like Justin Henin, Sharapova, Jankovic, Ivanovic, all of them have amazingly sleek bodies. All of them have huge amounts of stamina and even more power in their shots. Sania must concentrate on all these issues and work on them with deligence if she dreams of getting into the top 10 in the world.
This is how she should aim to become... look how sleek she looks here....
So here's wishing that she will make us proud by getting into the top ten and in the process inspire a lot of youngsters to take up this amazing game of tennis.
